Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: 1 April 2026 Last Updated: 25 March 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out the standards that apply to all users of the Blackwell platform and Services. By using the Services, you agree to comply with this AUP.

Permitted Use

The Blackwell platform is licensed for legitimate commercial maritime operations, including fleet management, crew coordination, weather intelligence, supply chain logistics, and maritime compliance. Use must be in accordance with your subscription agreement and applicable law.

Prohibited Activities

You must not use the Services for any of the following:

Sanctions evasion: Using Blackwell data, tools, or communication features to facilitate the movement, concealment, or tracking of vessels engaged in sanctions-evading activity, including dark fleet operations, ship-to-ship transfers designed to conceal cargo origin, or AIS manipulation.

Falsification of data: Inputting deliberately false vessel positions, crew records, cargo manifests, or certification data into the platform.

Unauthorised access: Attempting to access accounts, systems, or data that you are not authorised to access. This includes credential sharing beyond your licensed user count and any attempt to exploit platform vulnerabilities.

Malicious activity: Uploading malware, conducting denial-of-service attacks, or any other activity that disrupts the platform or other users.

Illegal surveillance: Using vessel tracking or communication features to monitor individuals without legal authority or appropriate consent.

Data scraping: Automated extraction of data from the platform beyond what is permitted by the API terms in your agreement.

Resale without authorisation: Providing third parties with access to the Services or reselling platform data without a written reseller agreement with Blackwell.

Compliance with Maritime Law

Users of the Blackwell platform are expected to operate in compliance with applicable international maritime law, including SOLAS, MARPOL, the Maritime Labour Convention, and relevant IMO instruments. Blackwell does not knowingly facilitate operations that violate these frameworks.

Blackwell cooperates with port state control authorities, flag state administrations, and law enforcement agencies as required by law.

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any use of the Blackwell platform that violates this AUP, please report it to security@blackwellgeo.com. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action, which may include account suspension, data preservation for legal proceedings, and referral to relevant authorities.

Enforcement

Blackwell reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to the Services for any user or organisation found to be in violation of this AUP, without prior notice where the violation is severe or ongoing. We may also preserve and disclose account data to comply with legal obligations or protect the rights and safety of others.
